PC/CP300 Electronics Laboratory II

Other Sensors Lab Requirements

Objective

Equipment

  1. Infrared Distance Measuring Sensors
  2. Ultrasonic Distance Measuring Sensors with multiple outputs
  3. Photodiodes: Osram SFH229
  4. Phototransistors (note data sheet is equivalent for the MRD310)
  5. Thermocouples (one in stock; probably Copper (+) Constantan (-) )
  6. Ultrasonic Range Sensors
  7. Force Sensing Resistors: Integration Guide for 400 Series
    (Part No. 400 (0.2” Circle), 402 (0.5” Circle), 406 (1.5” Square), 408 (24” Strip))
caution re: handling of FSRs Be very careful when handling or applying pressure to the force sensing resistors.
Do not do anything that would create permanent indentations or creases on the sensor.
  8. Hall Effect Sensors

Procedure

Note: Since you may want to use these sensors in your project, do the calibration carefully to avoid having to redo this work later.

  1. For the first transducer's range of operation, select the range that you will be working in. You do not have to cover the complete range of operation. Determine the transducer output at several points within your selected working range. Produce a calibration curve using these values.

Demonstrate your calibration procedure and results to the lab supervisor.

  2. For the second transducer's range of operation, select the range that you will be working in. You do not have to cover the complete range of operation. Determine the transducer output at several points within your selected working range. Produce a calibration curve using these values.

Demonstrate your calibration procedure and results to the lab supervisor.
