TraceView Introduction

Objectives

1. To become familiar with the TraceView OTDR network analysis software.

Equipment

• Computer with TraceView software installed
• (optional) Files from your previous labs with the OTDR

Procedure

Setup

1. Open the TraceView software:
   
   
2. Use the SOR files provided to determine how to use the software to do the kind of analysis you did with the OTDR itself. Specifically, try and determine everything about the network from Port 3 using TraceView that you were asked to do with the OTDR.
   Demonstrate the program working.
3. Write up the results in the same format as you have been for the other labs. Comment on any advantages or disadvantages of using TraceView over the built-in software on the OTDR.
