Output Transducers Prelab Requirements

You will be investigating two output transducers in this lab: a relay and a DC motor.

  1. Describe the operation of a relay, including how it includes a solenoid.
    • What is the difference between a normally on relay and a normally off relay? Can a single relay be both?
  2. Describe the operation of a DC motor.
    • What is the difference between a permanent magnet DC motor and a brushless DC motor?
