PC/CP300 Electronics Laboratory II

Introduction to Operational Amplifiers Postlab Requirements

Resources

Postlab Requirements

  1. What was the biggest challenge about doing this lab?
Discuss this as part of your summary.
  2. Operation amplifier data sheets, like most data sheets contains a general description of the device, a pin diagram, maximum ratings list, and a list of input/output characteristics. Op-amp data sheets also contain an internal circuit diagram which is beyond the scope of this course. The best data sheets also contain sample op-amp circuits which can be very useful.

For each of the data sheets listed above, do a comparative analysis of the notation used by the data sheet

    • for the inverting and non-inverting input voltages,
    • for the output voltage,
    • for the supply voltages,
    • for the voltage gain.

Compare these to the notation we will be using (same as text). Record your results in a table. Include a column which gives the general equation for the output of an op-amp [ Vo = Av (V+  - V- ) where Av is the voltage gain according to the text] rewritten in the notation that would be appropriate for the data sheet

  3. Summarize what you learned doing the lab. I strongly recommend that you do this within 24 hours of completing the lab. You are summarizing the lab experience not the assigned readings. The summary should be:
    • in point form
    • in your lab notebook
    • maximum 2 pages.
  4. Op-amps can be destroyed when improperly handled. What would be a quick simple way to test the operation of an op-amp?
  5. Photocopy your summary and submit it along with the question answers to the instructor at next week's lecture.
