PC/CP300 Electronics Laboratory II
Controlling Power Postlab Requirements

For the first three questions work with your lab partner to develop a solution BUT write it up individually.

  1. Design a circuit to take a TTL signal to control a relay. Isolate the TTL levels from the relay using an optoisolator. Be sure to consider whether the optoisolator provides sufficient current to control the relay. If not, what must be done?

  2. Draw the circuit which shows how you would use optical isolation in the DC motor circuit with the MOSFET. Think carefully about where the optoisolator would go in the circuit.Be sure to consider whether the optoisolator provides sufficient current to control the MOSFET. If not, what must be done?

  3. Summarize what you learned doing the lab. I strongly recommend that you do this within 24 hours of completing the lab.

  4. Photocopy your summary and submit it along with these postlab questions to the instructor at next week's lecture.
