PC/CP200 Electronics Lab I

Voltage, Current, and Ohm's Law Postlab

  1. What was the biggest challenge about doing this lab?
Discuss this as part of your summary.
  2. Required Questions: In the lab you developed some feeling for the dominance of either the small or large resistor for both series and parallel resistor circuits.
    • If you wanted to do a quick ballpark check (i.e. happy with answers within 10% of the theoretical) on a circuit, how large a difference factor does there have to be between the resistors before you can ignore the non-dominant resistor? Consider both the series and parallel cases. Show your reasoning.
    • Does the number of resistors in series or in parallel make any difference? Explain.
Discuss these as part of your summary.
  3. Optional Question: If your resistors had an accuracy rating of 5%, how does the ballpark check compare to actual measurements?
  4. Summarize what you learned doing the lab. I strongly recommend that you do this within 24 hours of completing the lab. You are summarizing the lab experience not the assigned readings. The summary should be:
    • in point form
    • in your lab notebook
    • maximum 2 pages.
  5. Photocopy your summary including the question answers and hand it to the instructor at the beginning of next week's lab.
