Digital Design Project Layout

The layout of your project can affect how easy it is to build and use. You won't be able to keep your CPLD and cables connected between lab periods, so you need to lay out your circuit so that they can be reconnected easily and correctly.

If you only need one cable; i.e. if you only use one "bank" of the CPLD, one possible layout is as follows:
single bank layout

If you need two cables; i.e. if you need two "banks" of the CPLD, one possible layout is as follows:
dual bank layout

Another possible layout is like this:
other dual bank layout

Here's a not so good choice, since you have to count holes to place one (i.e. the lower) of the cables:

If you need more than two banks, you can follow the same guidelines to make good choices.
